What are the chances of success for a couple having IVF treatment ?
This may seem like a simple question but trying to interpret success rates from IVF centres can get confusing!
In general, success rates can be confusing and misleading because they do not take into account the individual patient and their personal fertility situation. For example, your chance of success needs to take into consideration:
- Age of the female partner
- Quality of the sperm
- Quality and number of eggs retrieved
- Number of eggs successfully fertilised
- Reason and duration of infertility
- Quality control in the laboratory
- Skill and competence of the IVF team
- Number of embryos transferred
Your Dogus IVF Centre coordinator will explain how your own chance of success is better or worse than the overall statistics and we will tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs to maximise your chance of pregnancy.
Dr. Firdevs’ success rates are almost three times better than the UK national average!
The UK statistics have been obtained from page 21 of the HFEA Fertility Trends and Figures 2011 Annual Register Report available at:
Dr. Firdevs treats more than 1,500 patients a year which is more than Northern Ireland or Wales!

Even with high patient numbers, Dr. Firdevs’ success rates keep increasing!
Team Miracle are happy to report that our success rates have improved steadily every year since Dogus IVF Centre opened in 1995. So far, in 2013, we have achieved pregnancies for couples around the world ranging as far afield as Darwin, Australia and Vancouver, Canada. This year alone there have been Dogus babies born in Iraq, Dubai, Norway, China, UK, Ireland, Italy, India, Sweden and the Netherlands to name only a few countries.
We truly believe that we have a miracle formula which can’t be beaten. The combination of Dr. Firdevs’ incredible skill and the relaxing atmosphere of the beautiful island of Cyprus help to generate incredible rates of pregnancy.
Maternal age has a significant impact on success rates and so we have separated our statistics into age brackets to give a more accurate representation of the chance of pregnancy for each age range. The statistics given are for all women treated at these ages.
Team Miracle’s success rates are:
– based on a foetal heartbeat being detected on an ultrasound
– broken down into age categories
– based on a single IVF cycle
So, why are the success rates so high?
Male factor infertility contributes to 25% to 30% of all infertility between healthy couples. A large proportion of male infertility goes undetected. Because of this, Dr. Firdevs performs ICSI for free with every treatment cycle to maximise fertilisation rates.
FREE BLASTOCYST TRANSFER
The Team Miracle embryologists at Dogus IVF Centre always culture embryos to blastocyst stage whenever possible for no extra cost. If a couple has more than 5 good embryos on day 3 then Dr. Firdevs will normally make the decision to allow them to develop for 2 more days before doing the embryo transfer. It is easier to choose the best embryos when they reach blastocyst stage and ultimately the success rates are increased by 10% to 20% depending on the age of the female.
LOW STRESS FOR BETTER OUTCOMES
In the past, it was unclear whether stress had a real impact on IVF success rates or not. However, in 2013 there have been numerous studies showing that stress has a negative impact on reproduction in general, and is especially detrimental to IVF success. A recent study* by Kathy Turner of Stanford University found that the women who had the lowest stress levels prior to egg retrieval were more likely to have successful pregnancies than those whose stress levels were higher at the same time. The results emphasise the need for women to be as relaxed and stress free as possible whilst undergoing IVF treatment and where better to unwind than the tranquil fishing village of Kyrenia on the North coast of Cyprus.

MAXIMUM OF FOUR EMBRYOS TRANSFERRED
In the UK and many other countries, the relevant governing bodies (e.g. HFEA) places strict guidelines and targets on IVF clinics to keep the number of multiple births below a certain percentage. This means that the clinics are keen to only transfer one embryo to remove the risk of twins or triplets and thus meet their targets. We are not limited by any such regulations and therefore we can transfer three blastocyst embryos or a maximum of four in special circumstances at the discretion of Dr. Firdevs. When four blastocyst embryos are transferred, the chance of pregnancy is over 80%. The risk of multiples is still very low with the chance of twins being about 15% and the chance of triplets being less than 1%.
